How We Make Money (Affiliate Disclosure)
Updated
OwnerHandbook is free to read. Right now the site has no advertising, no affiliate links and no paid partnerships. This page explains how we expect to fund the site in the future and the rules we follow, so you can judge our work with full information. In line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides, we will disclose every revenue source here and next to the links concerned before it goes live.
How we plan to fund the site
- Display advertising. We plan to show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads will be labeled “Advertisement” and kept separate from editorial content.
- Affiliate links. We may link to products such as home batteries and portable power stations through affiliate programs. If you buy through those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Each affiliate link will carry an “Affiliate link” label.
- Installer quote referrals. We may offer a “Get quotes” service that passes your request to installers or a referral partner, who may pay us for the introduction. You will never be obliged to hire anyone.
When any of these goes live, this page and our privacy policy will be updated first.
Rules that will never change
- Money never changes our numbers, rankings or conclusions.
- We tell you when the cheapest option is to do nothing, or when solar or a battery does not pay off.
- Advertisers and partners cannot review or approve our content.
